Updates

Ok, girls.

It's definitely time for some updates! Some of you are about to pop out babies, ALL of your babies are getting older, some of you are going to school, some are changing jobs, some have moved out of state or country...I'd love to hear about it all!

I really miss the old BBC board, where we "talked" often. I noticed that the old BBC is still up-and-running, so if y'all were ever thinking of meandering back over there, don't leave me out!

If you don't know how to post on the blog, then give us your update in the comment section for this post.

In fact, I'll start the updates with my own in the comment section.

Love y'all!

My goings-on: As far as Ellie goes, you can see from the video that she's SLOWLY getting the walker thing (emphasis on the "slowly"). She's hopping all over the place, which is great too. She's also starting to speak in some 3 and 4-word sentences, but we're still pretty far behind on speech (grrr...). We've decided to wait on SDR, as the other opinions we received encouraged us to give her a bit more time to develop her walking skills. We'll revisit the SDR possibility in a year or so.

Personally, things are going well. I'm studying my booty off (so you're not alone, Jess!) for my GRE (which, ironically, I've already written, but the test results are only good for 5 years..poo!) so that I can go back to grad school in fall. We're off to Minneapolis area for Canadian Thanksgiving next weekend, for some much needed R&R (my family always goes, so I've got lots of babysitters to watch Ellie while I'm SHOPPING, whoot!). Then, during the beginning of November, we head down to Alabama to visit DH's family. Those are the "big things" on my recent calendar!

I can't WAIT to hear from y'all!

Lets see i am one of the don't know how to post on here yet people.

Audrianna is in preschool for her 2nd year well techincally she only was in preschool from may to june then a little over the summer she gets sick way to easy so shes not in school much so far shes been in school since the 10th and shes missed about 3 days. Yesterday she had to miss school to go to the pediatricians to be checked out she fell while using her walker the day before at school and hit her head pretty hard u can read more about that in my blog. Then shes also been acting really tired and just not herself since sunday I figured her platletes were low again so they took blood yesterday shes such a brave girl holds her arm out pulls up her own sleeve doesnt even flinch or cry when they draw blood. Got the results back everything is normal so the ped just said call if any other symptoms occur. Lets see I got my drivers license a few weeks ago and a car yep go me. Audrianna really hasnt reached any new milestones in quite some time it worries me a bit I see or hear about everyoneone elses kids doing new things and Audriannas not. no new words, signs nothing. We did get her a toddler bed cause her simplicity 3-in 1 crib was recalled. Im still a single stay at home mom the stay at home part may be changing in a few weeks cause I have decided to go back to my old job they need someone 11-7pm that means tho I wont get to see Audrianna except to put her on the school bus her father will be watching her while i am at work. Him and I are trying our hardest to work things out but I just don't know. Well anyways its getting late almost 11pm here and I have to be up early oh yeah tommorow is another round of the appointments with the genetesist.

Well, Emma is still coming along slowly, slowly, slowly with her walker. We still are looking for a better fit for her. She really doesn't use her arms well enough to us a reverse walker without forearm supports. We are having trouble finding one where the forearms supports can be manipulated/rotated or whatever to give her the comfort and support that she needs. She is beginning to reach independently now. We have prayed for that one for about 4 years now. Thank God!! She is learning to read. She knows many, many words. She is using alternative commmunication very well. Her language is emerging slowly. She is finally potty training and going about 50-75% of the time on the big potty. She got flowers from PT this week for walking with her walker more than 150 ft straight. She still needs a bunch of help, not quite totally solo all the time consistently yet. We have been enormously busy lately with school stuff, therapy, etc. I am pretty proud of my baby though, and I do miss y'all a lot.

Let's see........Malayna has made some great motor progress. She is pulling herself up on everything now and loves to walk holding on to our hands and can go for a short distance holding one hand. She does great in her walker, but it's not useful in the house because she'd destroy our walls, furniture, cabinets, etc. But she uses it in the school hallways and does great. She can cruise the couch and bed. She can take about 3 independent steps between 2 people before wiping out. She still hasn't really found her balance and can't just stand in the middle of the floor. She finally has learned to crawl up stairs, which I didn't think she'd ever do. I remember seeing the videos of Aud doing this and thought I'd never see Malayna do it, but now she does. She hasn't figured out how to get back down though. She is still way behind in speech but is working hard with her speech therapist, who she loves.

We tried pre-school again this year, but she just couldn't handle the activity of the classroom with 10 other kids. Too much noise and unpredictable activity. I was not able to leave the classroom without her crying inconsolably and was not comfortable doing that. The school personnel has been difficult, to say the least. They seem to think that they know our child better than we do. NOT! So now she's going to the school for her therapies (PT, OT, speech) and is going to start seeing the pre-k teacher once a week and will meet with her individual aide alone a couple times a week. We're going to do this for a couple months and see what we think from there. Our hope is that she will become comfortable with the people she'd see at school and then we can ease her into the pre-k program. I'm not real optimistic though since she'd still have 10 other kids (mostly rowdy boys) to handle. I've been taking her to a private therapy clinic since June and they've done wonders with her and she loves it there. They may offer a preschool group for socialization purposes soon so I hope to take her to that to see if that helps.
I guess that's about it for us. My baby just turned 4 in September and I just can't believe it!!
Who's next? I love hearing about our kiddos! Thanks for getting us started Chrystie!

I admit, I have been HORRIBLE about posting here :( I stop by at least once a day though & LOVE to read about all of the kiddos :)
Joshua started Kindergarten this year & so far, so good. He's at a new school & he loves it! Therapy is going well...still doing Hippotherapy which I think has done WONDERS for his trunk strength. Still working on speech...slowly but surely.
Mia is now 20 months!!! WHERE DID THE TIME GO???? It's so STRANGE having a "typical" toddler after Joshie.....she talks waaaaay too much & is all over the place!!! She's definitely a Mommy's girl & LOVES to shop! (don't know where she got that from!! LOL!!)
Other than that....we are good. No news is good news, ya know?? ;)
I'm sooo excited for Halloween & can't wait to see all of your little ones in their costumes!!
I promise to try & post more!!!!
It really sounds like everyone is doing wonderful....I'm so PROUD of our little ones!!
I miss all of you TERRIBLY!!! Please don't stop posting here !!!

I miss the old BBC board too. Things are going well here. I am over 36 weeks pregnant so almost full term! This pregnancy has been so much easier than my pregnancy with Avery.
Avery is doing well. As usual nothing much new with her motor skils, but she is talking amazingly well. She is in a study looking at speech development in kids with CP and the therapist there told me she is at or above age level in both receptive and expressive language.
She goes to school 4 mornings a week now and loves it. On days she doesn't have school she asks if she can go. She is doing well there and even talks about some friends she has at school.
It great to hear about everyone's little ones. I would respond in more detail, but I have to get Avery in the bath.

Niki! I was literally just going to do a post asking if anyone has heard from you. I'm so glad to hear that the pregnancy is going well and that Avery loves school and is talking so well. Please be sure to post some pics of the new little one when s/he arrives (sorry, I can't remember if you found out and told us). Good luck in the next few weeks. I seriously miss OBBC too!!
